In this role, based out of the Singapore head office she spent two years developing the individual property programs, of nine of the groups’ resorts within Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. With a key focus always on education Kavita was able to develop a number of wine workshops and training programs designed specifically to enhance the knowledge of over 200 staff across this region.

Following on from this, Kavita then spent the next 2 years based out of New Delhi, India where she played a key role in the opening of Amanresorts’ first city location, whilst overseeing the wine programs of 4 additional properties located within India and Sri Lanka. The article described her work within the city’s food and beverage industry by saying;

“Kavita Faiella is constantly pushing us to broaden our drinking horizons. Since taking on the role of wine director at The Press Group, she’s carefully revamped the wine lists at the group’s multiple outlets and given each of them a distinct personality. She’s opted for organic and biodynamic bottles at The Pawn, and an all-French wine list at The Press Room which highlights lesser known regions such as Jura and Savoie. Perhaps her most impressive collection is the aptly named ‘the wine atlas’ at The Principal, which lists more than 700 hand-selected bottles from across the globe. It’s Kavita’s way of getting us to go beyond our comfort zones of Burgundy and Bordeaux and to explore Xinomavro grapes from Greece, Chardonnays from Israel and Rieslings from Slovakia.”

In addition to working for the above respected establishments, Kavita has simultaneously been pursuing her Master Sommelier qualification. She has completed her advanced sommelier certification and passed both the theory and practical components of the final level of the MS exam, currently Australia’s youngest and only female to have reached this level. A regular contributor to a number of wine publications and judge for the Decanter World Wine Awards Kavita has built an extensive network of distributors, sommeliers, restauranteurs, hoteliers, journalists and wine lovers throughout the Asia-Pacific Region.

Today she runs her own company Voyageur Selections. Established in 2014, she works as a brand ambassador for small-medium sized wineries telling their story in the Asia-Pacific region: by executing a multifaceted market engagement strategy, comprehensive distributor review and selection, and a communication framework that focuses on brand development, training and Producer creativity.Additionally she continues to offer beverage program consultation services to restaurants and hotels, designing and managing unique global wine selections.

Over the first decade of her career Kavita has established a philosophy whereby she believes in celebrating the wines of the world that truly speak of place, the nature of the vintage and the personality of the grower. Her favourite part of the wine world is getting to know the names and faces behind every label and communicating their stories around the globe.
